Bonny Madsen (back row, far left), founder of Mills Club.

Bonny Madsen, the founder of the Mills Club freestyle sports association in Copenhagen, Denmark, has been shortlisted for the prestigious #BeActive Local Hero Award 2024. A recent special guest speaker on the September City Health Talks, Bonny is being recognised for her tireless dedication to providing fun, inclusive and supportive opportunities for physical activity for urban youth.

Bonny will travel to the awards ceremony in Brussels, accompanied and supported by two of the club's longest-serving and most dedicated members, Max and Jonathan. These inspiring young scooting enthusiasts are featured in the Cities for Better Health case on Mills Club, which focuses on improving social inclusion through freestyle sports.

Mills Club is a community-based scooting and skating club that strongly focuses on reaching children with behavioural and learning challenges and those facing social isolation, including refugees and groups from underserved communities.

Bonny is a former professional footballer who understands the value of sport and its power to empower young people in communities. Her decade-long dedication to fostering an inclusive environment and empowering children and adolescents who often feel alienated elsewhere truly deserves this well-earned recognition.

Cities for Better Health and all our local partners wish Bonny good luck at the awards!
