In November, the City of Logan in Australia joined the Cities for Better Health partnership. The city, located in southern Brisbane, has joined with a mission to promote and expand prevention initiatives with clear, long-term contribution to health equity, together with the local communities of Logan.

New cities on board

Cities for Better Health is launching a strong foundation partnership, collaborating with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF) to give children in Logan a healthy start in life. The SAKGF has been providing prevention-focused, community-led projects designed to reduce health inequities in Logan since 2004.

Through the Healthy Kitchen programme, Logan students will learn how to grow, harvest, prepare and share nutritious, seasonal foods—cultivating healthy eating habits from an early age. This initiative emphasises practical skills and enjoyment of food, creating a foundation for lifelong health.

Eagleby South State School and up to 10 other local schools, early childhood centres and community organisations will participate in this programme, with access to resources, professional development and ongoing support.

We’re excited to work alongside Logan’s educators and community to foster health equity from the ground up. Welcome to the Cities for Better Health family, City of Logan!
