The importance of working with grassroots organisations and communities to address the challenge of type 2 diabetes in cities is the central thrust in this recently published article which shines a light on the Leicester Cities Changing Diabetes partnership.

In Leicester, a range of local partners collaborate to improve health in the city, and I am pleased to report they are achieving a high level of success in reaching communities within communities. The article provides a snapshot of how health and wellbeing programmes have been tailored to the needs of Leicester’s South Asian community and delivered diabetes screening events that have reached more than 800 people to date.

It’s a five-minute read, and an interesting example of how to raise the profile of your interventions to a broader national audience, and a good introduction to the Leicester case for inspiration. You can read the article about the importance of community action to tackle type 2 diabetes here.
