To make patient visits to St. Petersburg’s City Consulting Diagnostic Centre (CCDC) less stressful and encourage people to be more active, our partners have begun greening the hospital's grounds.
A 2020 Cities Changing Diabetes social study for diabetes patients found that green areas motivate people to go outside for a walk. On 9 September, the initiative began planting new trees and shrubs around CCDC.
The planting of berry bushes, hortensia and three young oaks was led by Evgenii Popov, Chief Medical Officer of CCDC #1 and Irina Karpova, Chief Diabetologist of St. Petersburg, along with many enthusiastic colleagues. Later this month, the greening initiative will roll out at the Moscow Endocrinological Dispensary.
