High-level participants were invited to speak and engage on various timely topics. The opening sessions were reflective, looking back at the lessons from COVID-19, with a global perspective presented by Dr David Napier, Professor of Medical Anthropology from University College London. Local evaluations of diabetes and inequality in Korea were presented by JunSung Moon, Professor of Yeungnam University Medical Center, and Charlotte Glümer from the Center for Diabetes in Copenhagen outlined the Danish experience.

The knowledge-sharing event heard from Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke, CEO of Novo Nordisk, Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen, and Prof. Yoon from Seoul, Prof. Park from Busan and Assistant Prof. Kim from Daegu.

Prof. SinGon Kim of Korea University Anam Hospital spoke about trends in socioeconomic inequalities in major risk factors for cardiovascular disease in Korea, presenting an overview of a pilot study by mobile application to support vulnerable pateints with diabetes. Professor Kun-Ho Yoon of the Catholic University of Korea, Seoul moderated a discussion session before closing remarks were made by Yoo Mi Park, Chief of Bureau, Health Care Policy and Einar Jensen, the Danish Ambassador.

Creating such a high-level assembly takes a great deal of coordination and energy. The live-streamed webinar was a joint initiative by Novo Nordisk Korea, the Embassy of Denmark and the Trade Council in Korea and it was the second event of its kind since Cities for Better Health launched in Seoul in 2019. A great example of knowledge sharing across the cities in our network, and of maximising both audience reach and impact.
